Our mission is and continues to be making gaming and game server hosting as accessible and easy as possible for everyone.

What's a VMI?

Today, we have shipped our Virtual Machine Images (VMI) build pipeline. This lets anyone download a QEMU compatible image for our game servers, allowing you to run on any hardware or platform which supports it.

This lets you quickly download and spin up a pre-built, batteries included image and with some small config get started with a gameserver. Whether you have a great home lab setup capable of running VM workloads or you're keen to get started with OGH and have full control over your hardware, you can use our VMIs right out of the box and get started in no time.

VMI Builds

Our VMIs are built after of a new gameserver version becomes available, so within a few minutes of a gameserver update being released it will become available to download.

They have feature parity with our gameserver images (they are based on them!), so you can use the same configuration to have one click mod loader installs and have automatic game and world management.

You can download using the microsite above, or directly from our public build site with a tool like cURL.

curl -o minecraft-latest.qcow2 https://public.opengamehosting.xyz/vmi/minecraft-latest.qcow2

Our builds are stored using the format:

https://public.opengamehosting.xyz/vmi/{game}-{version}.qcow2

e.g.

  • https://public.opengamehosting.xyz/vmi/minecraft-1.20.5.qcow2
